Le Cendrillon

Back again in the vieux Limoilou neighborhood but this time visiting Le Cendrillon. I’m told it’s a sister restaurant of La Planque but aside from the quality of the food they are different. The difference is in their menu concept where Le Cendrillon offers a tapas style menu that can easily be shared. I always enjoy the concept as I’m always wondering if I missed something I should have really have tried on the different establishments menus.

Since we were three we could go a little crazier and order several appetizers. We started with a Tuna tataki, grilled calamari and some oysters. The oysters were very good, a little warmed up with a citrus jelly and topped with radish. The Tuna tataki was also very good seared perfectly on the outside and raw in the center. The grilled calamari was a full grilled piece of calamari and was very tender. It was served with a grilled and spiced red pepper puree, a confit of tomato and fennel and fresh coriander.  Since they wanted us to try their Lobster they were kind enough to bring us each a taster and it was good. Poached in butter with white balsamic potatoes, tomatoes and bacon, lobster and bacon who could ask for more. We also had the ravioli and that dish was so tasteful I could have ordered more and make a meal out of it. We finished off our meal with some charcuterie and foie gras (that was to replace dessert) and both were awesome.

The decor is pretty cool and no matter where you sit it a cosy and warm environment. Staff also knows their menu and wine list extremely well and can properly guide you on a good wine to pair with your order. I would actually suggest you let them pick for you as they have some pretty out of the ordinary kind of wines.
