This is an 12 KM hike with 748 m elevation gain located in the Parc national des Grands-Jardins. The drive from Montreal is roughly 4h or 1h30 from Quebec City. The access for the trail is at the Mont-du-Lac-des-Cygnes Service Center.
This is a looptrail and one of the reason that it’s considered a difficult trail is that it’s starts with a 3 km ascent through boulders and roots. The trail is also very rocky and I would strongly recommend hiking boots and hiking poles. Bring also plenty of water.
The trail is awesome and you will encounter several view points and a beautiful vista of Lake Georges before reaching the summit.
The views from the summit give you quite a variety as you will get some from the summit of Mount Le Pioui before crossing to the summit of Mount Du Lac des Cygnes.
If you want a good workout and more of a challenge this is the trail to take to get to Mount Du Lac des Cygnes. If you take the regular trail to get there it’s mainly path and wooden boardwalks and even with the elevation gain is accessible to most. As I like to push myself this was the perfect trail for me that gave me more distance and more of a climb.
