I had tickets to the Grands Ballets Canadien and was looking for a place to have dinner first. All the usual restaurants around Place des Arts were full but then I had a flash that Notkins was not too far away. I had been a few times for drinks but never for dinner. If you’ve never been the decor is great a mix of wood, metal and glass with high ceilings gives it an amazing look. Both the center bar and the one along the walls were made to be able to best serve clients and still been comfortable while sitting  at a bar. Naturally if you go to Notkins you have to try some oysters and  seafood.  We started our evening with some Pemaquid Maine Oysters that were simply exquisite, good texture, fresh and tasty. That kind of opened up my appetite so we then had some steamed clams, all I can tell you is that I had to dip some bread in the amazing butter and herbs sauce it was served in. For main course I had the Lobster Burger which was generously filled with big pieces of Lobster, I’m not talking shredded lobster but real tail pieces and it was just excellent. My friend had the Seafood linguine nicely done with big pieces of Lobster as well as Scallops and shrimps. The wine list is also pretty reasonable and we’ve made a nice South African discovery ” The Curator”. Definitely a great place to treat you to some great seafood in a beautiful environment. They will also have a terrasse very soon.
