As you probably already know, Time Out Market opened on November 14th at the Eaton Center. Wanting to save my self the line up from the opening day and weekend I decided to go a week after. Little did I know that it was not going to help me, I went Sunday mid afternoon and the place was really busy.
What is Time Out Market? Let’s just say that it’s like a big food court but that only has some of the top restaurants in Montreal in their line up. There’s also a bar area with some great cocktails, a specialty product store that features local products and an area for cooking workshops.
Who’s are the restaurants?
- Hof Sucrée
- Marusan
- Le Red Tiger
- Montreal Plaza Deli
- Paul Toussaint (Agrikol)
- Charles Antoine Crête and Cheryl Johnson (Montreal Plaza)
- Le Club Chasse et Pêche
- Foxy
- Burger T! (Toqué)
- Il Miglio
- Moleskine
- Romados
- Foodchain
- Grumman’78
- Olive & Gourmando
- Dalla Rose
How does it work?
Just like a food court you can pick and chose who you want to order from. The difference is obviously that we’re not taking fast food so you will have to wait a little longer for your meal. They are all equipped with the ”Beapers” to let you know when your food is ready. I strongly suggest looking for a spot at a table before or while you are waiting for your order. We were 4 and it was a little hard to find a spot, but just like in a parking lot you don’t have to wait long for someone to leave.
How’s the food?
On my visit I had the grilled octopus from Chase et Peche and it was very good. Their risotto I have to say was my favorite. It was a small portion so I completed my meal by visiting Grumman’78 for a Banh Mi taco and with the size of it that was enough for me for the day.
Of course your experience won’t be the exact same as if you would visit those establishments. That been said, I think it’s a great way to try out their food before making a reservation at one of those restaurants. If you’re from out of town and looking to try out Montreal restaurants this will also be a good stop for you.
