A couple of weeks ago I had a craving and since Covid prevented gathering and I couldn’t get my dose of home cooked Haitian food I decided to order from Agrikol. If you’ve never had caribean food it’s definitely missing in your culture. I’m no rookie to it myself as it was probably 25 years ago that I had my first griot and lambi. Now to all my Haitian friends reading this, don’t text me or call me to tell me that there are other cheaper places, that the best place is so on and so on.. I know but this place is close by and I like it (crazy white guy lol).
Naturally since restaurants are closed you can order from their website for pick up or delivery. I chose delivery and I had pre-ordered and it came in right in the time window they had giving me.
I was not in the mood for just one dish and knowing that it would be awesome warmed up the next day I decided to order 2 dishes. Each dish comes with a side so that ended up been quite a bit of food. I ordered the Griot with Riz collé (Rice & beans) and the Half Jerk Chicken with Mac n Cheese. Naturally that also came with 2 bags of plantains and a container of Pikliz.
The food was excellent, meats were well cooked and spiced and even the Mac n Cheese had a little kick to it. The portions are good and 2 dishes will do nicely for 2 people unless you’re planning to go for seconds. I had food at the restaurants many times before and the freshness and quality has not changed for take-out of delivery.
I would have much more prefered to eat at the restaurant naturally but times been what they are this hit the spot and took care of my craving.
