Last week a friend of mine suggested we try a place he had discovered. As i’m rarely in the Rosemont neighborhood I thought it would be fun to try it out and discover a new place so we headed out to Baron Samedi. The decor of the place, has the name refers too, got vibe of New Orleans Voodoo. Now don’t get worried about my Voodoo reference as the only magic happening there is in the kitchen.
We sat down and started with a couple of beers and then tried their “Bloody Creole” a house twist on the Bloody Cesar with hot spices, banana peppers and to my complete joy a thick slice of bacon. The bacon open my appetite so I attack the menu and was pretty impress with the variety of food as this is more like a bar then a restaurant. Menu varied from beef or salmon tartar to burgers, mac n’ cheese balls, fried chicken and more.
I opted for the Crab Cakes and the 3 pieces of Fried Chicken as you can also order 4 or 5 pieces depending how hungry you are, or like in my case how willing you are to cheat on your diet. Crab Cakes were good as there was not too much batter to overcome the taste of crab as I often encountered. As for the Fried Chicken it was excellent, i’m not usually a fan of it but the batter was not too thick and it just tasted amazing. As for my friend he told me he really enjoyed his burger as well.
Overall a fun time at Baron Samedi, if you’re planning to go in a group I would reserve as only an hour after we showed up it was already pretty packed.
