A couple of weeks ago I joined some friends for a birthday party at Shinji. I didn’t know exactly what to expect about the food as it’s in the trendy area of Little Burgundy where sometimes decor surpasses quality and taste of the food. I have to confess that I was greatly surprised by the freshness, taste and quality of their food. As I wanted to try as much as possible I went with the “Shinji’s tasting menu” a 6 courses menu which consists of amuse-bouche, appetizer, soup, sushi, granite, main and dessert.

We were first brought an Akadashi wich was Red miso, hamachi topped with a shrimp. I then had the Wasabi and panko crusted tuna with seasonal greens and lemongrass sauce. It was then followed by an assortment of Maki’s and for main course Black Cod that was cooked and seasoned to perfection.

The ambiance and the decor (as you can see on the pictures below) is simply beautiful and the restaurant is also attached to Mlle Butterfly club if you want to continue with an after diner party. Overall great experience, knowledgeable and friendly staff. I will certainly pay them another visit in a near future.
