The Wynwood district of Miami offers a lot of restaurants that have some really good food. I’ve talked in a previous post of Sugarcane but another venue I discovered on my trip was Prohibition.

This restaurant and speakeasy is hard to miss on N Miami Ave. with the marquis up front and it’s large mural up top. From the outside the place looks really cool but it has nothing to do with the decor inside that is quite modern with a touch of retro.

Waiting at the bar for our table to be ready I go to  try their cocktail and been a fan of Old Fashioned that was my choice. I’m pretty picky when it comes to one of my favorite drinks and they make it right.

As for the food the concept is to share plates which accommodated us just fine. We ordered the Truffle Lobster Mac & Cheese made of Baked rigatoni with a mix of three-cheese blend, lobster, and truffle and it was excellent. We also ordered the Maine Lobster Croquette and the Chorizo Croquette. I have to say that the Chorizo Croquette made of Spanish chorizo and serrano ham with roasted piquillo pepper aioli had was more tasteful than the Lobster one. The Hummus Platter with Lavash and the Escargot were also very good but what to say about the Grilled Lamb Chops! Served over a bed of homemade garlic mashed potatoes and topped with a red wine reduction demi glaze they were perfectly cooked, tender and so tasty.

After diner we headed upstairs where they have a bar/lounge and got to dance away to burn some of those calories and enjoy a few more cocktails.

This place is great if you want to have an excellent diner followed by a night of fun without having to switch venues. What can be better than good food and good fun!

  1. Wynwood is such an amazing place for food and entertainment. Have you been to R House? It is absolutely wonderful. As well as Gigi’s. Some of my favorite restaurants are in Wynwood.
