Terrasse sur l’auberge

I have to admit that we’re pretty lucky in Montreal to have all those roof top terasses. Downtown has it shares of them but so does Old Montreal. Of course you will get a different scenery between both of those neighborhoods but especially if you are planning a day in the Old Port you’ll have your pick of quite a few of them.

One of the less popular ones and not because of location or look is Terrasse sur l’Auberge on top of Hotel Auberge Vieux Port. I was invited to taste the menu and drinks for their season opening a few weeks ago and it was a fun night. I had been there before and there hasn’t been changes to the decor. The terrace gives on two sides, St-Paul street with the view on the city and De la Commune with a magnificent view on the old port. On the port side you can see from the Quai de l’horloge to Silo 5, the north side of the Terrasse is more of a chill side with couches and low tables while the south side is where you’ll find tables more appropriate for lunch or dinner.

If you enjoy the fireworks they have one of the best views combine with fun ambiance to watch them from. You’ll want to sit on the south side of the Terrasse if you want to get the best view and I would strongly recommend a reservation even if they accept walk-ins.

Their menu for drinks and food is quite varied, we tasted the Charcuterie platter and the Duck Confit grilled cheese that were both pretty good. That was a good combination to share as I would recommend to do with several items on the menu. The grilled cheese was interesting and a little different, a combination that I like when trying a new dish.

They are open Monday to Wednesday from 2pm to 11pm and Thursday to Sunday from 1pm to 11pm
