Are you a fan of Japanese food? I am, sushi or other dishes from a Japanese kitchen are always delicious. What I particularly like about Izakaya’s is the ambiance in which you eat in.
A few months back I discovered Hanzo Izakaya. Located in Old Montreal (which is a great addition to the neighborhood) this place as the perfect setting for dinner before a night out.
If you’re a fan of Quantin Tarantino, you’ll appreciate that the restaurant was inspired by the Crazy 88 scene in Kill Bill. The inspiration also reflects on the drink menu as they have drinks with name such as ” Boss Tanaka”, “Buck” and ”Gogo Yubari”.
The decor is great with some samurai swords on the walls nice wooden divisions, a bar and even a terrasse for the sunny days.
As for the food I took the opportunity to be with friends to order lots of different dishes so I got to try quite a bit.
My favorites are the Briskito (beef brisket, miso and karashi aioli, pikliz) and the Konbini Fried Chicken aka KFC (black pepper and achiote fried chicken, aji amarillo aioli) but everything I tasted was good.
Overall great ambiance, service and quality of food, I will be back and would surely recommend a visit for a fun time.
