Chez Doval

FRANCAIS

This Portuguese restaurant in the heart of the Plateau Mont-Royal has become an institution since it’s opened it’s doors in 1974. They offer a variety of fish, seafood, poultry and meat all cooked on their charcoal grill.

I have been there quite a few times and it’s good for all occasions. They have 2 distinct dinning area, one with linen table cloth more proper for special occasion or dates and the other one on the bar side that is more laid back.

One thing is certain it doesn’t matter which side you’ll dine at the food will be as good on both sides.  I usually have dinner on the bar side as I go there with friends and we always enjoy the food and have a great time.

Since it doesn’t have the ”chicken” or ”fish” stamp this place is good for groups as everyone will get something of their liking.

On my last visit I had the mixed grilled which consist of lamb, quail, steak and chicken. Served with fries and a salad this definitely hit the spot. They also have the traditional Pasteis de Bacalhau (cod nuggets) and I have to admit that their grilled octopus is also very tender and extremely good.

If you’re looking for place for good food in an unpretentious environment this is a restaurant you should put on your list.
