A long, long time ago, the bar scene on St-Laurent was the place to be. Every bar had it’s own cachet or attraction and there was an effort made to create an environment for the clients visiting these establishments.
I thought those days were over until I visited Le Darling. When I walked in I thought I was brought back to the good old days of this area of the Plateau when different types of crowds would mix in a place where no one felt out of place.
Now I called it a bar because it’s a great place to meet up with friends and enjoy a few drinks but they are a full menu restaurant. They are open for Brunch/Lunch everyday and also have a dinner menu from 5:30pm to 2am.
I went a few times for drinks and we had a good time. The decor is a bit eclectic with plants a bar that resembles a carousel and lots of decorations, but it all fits in. They also have a patio out front in the warm enough months and this is where I tried their brunch.
The brunch was good if you’re looking for something light. They don’t offer your typical bacon and eggs breakfast. They offer a variety of Smorrebrod (Scandinavian open face sandwich) for all taste with choice of roast beef, chicken, salmon and eggs. They also have salads and other items on the menu.
If you’re looking for a great neighborhood bar where you can also have something to eat, I would recommend you give Le Darling a try.
