Le Bremner is a restaurant from the Chuck Hughes ”Crown Salts” group I obviously had heard great things about it.My friend has been wanting to take me to this place for the longest time. We had that deal going to make sure he would be there on my first visit as it’s his favorite restaurant.
So here we are on an unplanned Friday night and getting a last minute reservation we are finally together at Le Bremner so I finally can try their menu. Since my friend knows the staff they were kind enough to make us a tasting menu so I could try as many dishes as my appetite and stomach could handle. After a couple (to say the least) Old Fashioned which by the way are excellent there, we pick our meal for the evening.
We started with a beef tartar the presentation with homemade chips and Permigiano-Reggiano flakes on top not only made for a beautiful but also very tasteful dish. Then came the Fried Chicken that was perfectly battered and the chicken was tender and juicy. The lobster tail cocktail served on a bed of cream cheese with some chips was also out of this world. The cauliflower, which I’m usually not a fan totally took me by surprise, thanks to the cheese sauce that they were covered with. The next item on the menu I have to admit might not attract everyone but trust me when I tell you that you must have it, it was lamb heart thinly sliced and it was one of the best things I had that night. It was served on a bed of sauerkraut and was just great. The last dish of our meal was a mushroom risotto topped with cheese, the mushrooms were still a little crunchy and the risotto was just perfectly cooked. After all that food I thought we were done but there came some pancakes with a Pimm butter and Sucre a la Creme sauce and that was quite a way to finish diner.
If you’re gonna try this place out, make sure to reserve and you can also use the DINR app to see if they have last minute room. This is one of the establishments in Montreal where you won’t be disappointed and that are consistent with the quality and taste of their food. I just added Bremner to my favorite Montreal Restaurants list and I’ll for sure be there again sooner than later to try the rest of their menu.
