The Old Port is one of my favorite neighborhood in the city. Aside from the cachet of the old city and the amount of clubs and lounges there’s also a major concentration of restaurants. If you’ve been before you know that some of those places can run you up a pretty stiff bill. The Bulldog is that kind of place that won’t make to much of a dent in your budget.

The food is reasonably priced and is actually very good. Been a pub they have a selection of beer but nothing on tap, everything is cans or bottles. As for the menu they have a good selection of Pub food that ranges from finger food tapas style to steak, burgers and tacos.

For my part I decided after looking at the menu to go for the meatballs for starters. I would usually order those when I go to an Italian restaurant but the fact that their meatball had smoked meat in them I wanted to try them. The portion is only 2 meatballs but for 2$ you can’t go wrong, I actually order 2 orders. For my main dish my choice ended on the Bang Bang Shrimp Naan Taco, as the name says it it is a Taco made with a Naan bread instead of the typical hard or soft shell taco. I admit that I was not sure how it would taste but it ended up been quite good and different. I like when restaurant are a little bit audacious and think outside the box to revisit a conventional dish.

Service was a little slow but I was in no rush and neither were my friends. The whole meal including my appetizers, my main and a large beer were just under 30$ which is pretty good for the Old Port. Not a place to bring a date but if you’re looking for an inexpensive place for a bite before going to some of the clubs you’ll get your money’s worth.
