If you enjoy Mexican food there is a new place that opened a few months ago in the Old Port that’s worth trying, La Catrina. Located on De La Commune between St-Sulpice and Port Royal, they have a patio dining area as well as the dining room and a bar area inside.
The menu is pretty varied they have a selection of seafood, meats and fish of the day but I went there for Tacos. They have lots to choose from; I had the rib-eye tacos as well as the filet mignon the lamb and the shrimp. Both the filet mignon and rib eye were very tender, after a bite I actually had to look at which one I was having as they were both as tender. The lamb taco was interesting served in its broth in a bowl this one came with all the condiment on the side and you made it on your own. All the different dishes I tried were delicious, they were fresh and tasteful.
The other item on the menu you will want to try is their cocktail. They have a variety of drinks mainly made with tequila or mescal. I’m not a fan of margaritas and I have to say that I like theirs. Don’t expect the big glass like you see in most resorts they serve it in a tumbler which I personally prefer.
I’ve been twice already and both times I was with a group and we had a great time. Since they are open quite late it’s a good place to start your evening or to go for a bite after an early one. If you will be going I would suggest a reservation as you can easily make it on their website. The staff is friendly and will help you if you have doubts on what you should choose.
