La Maison du Roti – Pret a manger

This year of confinement really took a number on me when it comes to food. At the beginning of it all I was all about buying healthy food at the grocery store and cooking dinner every night. After a while I was really missing the restaurants so I started to order out once a week and that really help bring back some kind of normality in my life.

After 6 months of grocery shopping and cooking I needed to a change. I felt I was always buying and eating the same thing and variety was needed. That’s when I turned to the prep-food delivery services. One thing you need to know if you’re living alone like I do is that those delivery service make portions for 2 or 4. I joined Good Food not minding having to eat twice the same dish in the week. New recipes new food I thought to myself that I was all set.

It was fun while it lasted and after a few months, as much as I enjoyed the recipes, I realized it was a lot of cooking after a work day compared to my previous situation. Also counting days that I was not that hungry or just did not feel like cooking, I was throwing a lot of it away at the end of the week and I hate wasting food.

The next step in my food journey was ordering out most of the week. It went from my once a week to 4-5 times a week. That agreed well with me since I didn’t have to cook and I had all those choices every day. The one thing it didn’t agree with was my diet….starting gaining weight.

At that point I thought I had explored all of my options. That was until I discovered that La Maison du Roti had some ready to eat meals. It’s been 2 months now that I order lunch and dinner 5 days of week from them. It’s quite easy, you go on the website you chose what you want, you pick your delivery day and Voila! you are all set. This is not a recurring order it’s just like any other store you buy for as much as you want when you want.

If you order over 60$ the delivery is free (in my area anyways) and they deliver in the greater Montreal area. Most of the meals are good for about 10 days in the fridge and that means that if I’m not really hungry I can skip a meal and it won’t go to waste at the end of the week.

Every dish that I tried taste amazing and what’s been great is that for 10 individual meals I average 70$-80$ taxes in and delivered. . What’s also great is that it’s a good portion so you won’t over eat and super easy to cook, most meals are 30 minutes in the oven in the containers they come in and a few are 20 minutes. You’ll see some pictures below but the food as I said is very tasty, they have a good variety and the process is very simple as you can order when ever you like and for as much as you like. If you want to combine you can also order other items from their online store as they have the complete selection of meat, poultry, charcuterie, cheese, desert and some wine and beer. If you’re not familiar with La Maison du Roti they are a well known high quality butcher shop on Mont-Royal street and they bring that same quality in those ready meals as they’ve done for the butcher shop for the past 50 years.

Here’s the link to their online store and if you register with this link you’ll get 5$ off your first order.
