I have been busy lately and haven`t had much time to try new places. I wanted to try something new for brunch and found Fieldstone. The restaurant located on St-Laurent almost on the corner of St-Viateur has only been open for 5 months.
Using products from local farms the cuisine is inspired by the flavors or Mexico, Cambodia, Spain and Canada.
They are open from Wednesday to Sunday for diner from 5pm to 10pm and for brunch Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 3pm. The diner format is a tasting menu that they offer with your choice or 5, 8 or 10 courses meal.
I went for brunch on a Sunday and it was not that busy but since there are not many table the place fill up fast. Décor is very open which makes a nice change from the regular elbow to elbow dining room in lots of places.
For brunch they have a set menu but they also have a special of the day which is what I decided to try. The special was pork belly bacon with poached eggs and potatoes served with salsa verde. The thick slices of bacon were very good (then again bacon is always good) and gave a nice salty balance to the rest of the dish. The salsa verde was a nice addition to the dish and was excellent with the eggs.
If you`re looking to try a new place with good food but reasonable portions this is a great place to try.
