Hiking: Rocky and Dieppe Summit Loop

FRANCAIS

Fee: $9.00 Level: Moderate Parking: Yes Services: Yes

This is a 10 km hike with 350 m of elevation gain located in The Gault Nature Reserve, located in Mont-Saint-Hilaire. The drive from Montreal is about 45 min. The cost of entry is 9$ for adults but they have limited entry so you must buy your tickets in advance that will give you a time slot to visit the park.

The hike is moderate it starts with a very small incline that takes you to Lake Hertel. Once you’re at kilometre 3.5 you will then get a steep incline of 160m for the next kilometre. After that your last climb will be to reach the summit.

The view points from Rocky and Dieppe are great on a clear day where you can get a nice view of the Richelieu Valley and all the way to the outline of the Montreal skyline.

There are several other trails the popular one been the Sugar Loaf but since most of them meet or cross you can build your own hike.

The trails are pretty clear and clean but the 160m steep portion is very rocky. I recommend hiking boots if you have them but it’s very doable with trail shoes as well.
