Hiking: Mont Foster

Version Francaise

Fees: 7.00$ Level: Moderate Parking: Yes (but limited) Facilities: No

This is a 9.0 km in and out hike located in Bolton Est. The elevation gain is 480 meters and the trail is moderate. The drive from Montreal is about 1h30min and the trail is accessible via the parking lot on Chemin Bolton Centre.

This is a steady climb and makes it a bit harder for a winter hike with only a few flats along the way. The last 500m are very steep, crampons are always good but almost necessary for that portion.

When you reach the summit there is a watch tower that gives you a nice 360 view of the area. I went on a cold day and was rewarded with a blue sky and frosted tree tops.

Since there’s not many parking space (5 if cars parked properly) there are not many people on the trail. The trail is also well identified and you’ll only come to a few cross points for other trails which makes it easy to reach the top. There is a bathroom at about km 4 but it was not open, guessing it only is during warmer months.
