If you’re looking for fun activities to do during spring break Parc Jean Drapeau has a lot to offer. The fact that it’s in the middle of the city makes it practical during this time with the COVID-19 restrictions and curfew. The activities that you can do in the park range from walking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, fat bikes, ice climbing and sliding.
All those activities are free the only thing you’ll have to pay if you get there by car is your parking. If you do not have your own equipment, you can rent cross country skis, skates, snowshoes or fat bikes. You can visit the website to see when the shop is open and get pricing on the different pieces of equipment.
The site is also accessible by Metro another good thing about the site is that the restrooms are open and available. Close to the skating area, which consist of a mix of path sand open areas, they also have lockers to put your boots in while you skate. You might need to bring a lock as I didn’t see any of the open lockers.
One thing I would have enjoyed as a kid is the Radio Canada hand warming station. Insert your hands in the designated area, press the push button with your knee, and enjoyed some warm air blowing on your cold hands.
If you just want to enjoy the views on the city there’s a lot of places you can walk to. You can walk for kilometres and kilometres on the site or take some bridges to get the other locations. One of the things I enjoyed was that compared to a lot of other parks in the city this one was not crowded. It’s always nice to enjoy the outdoors without too many people around you.
