My quest to try another place for brunch took me to the Mile End on Fairmount street. That area of the Plateau has a lot of cool spots for breakfast, brunch and coffee. I was with a friend and we decided to try out Faberge.
From the front entrance it seems like the place only has a few tables but as you walk in and peek around you realize that they actually have quite a few tables. We got there at roughly 10:30 and we had to wait 15 minutes to get a table, which is pretty good compare to some other places. I forgot to mentioned that they also have a small Terrasse up front and on this beautiful sunny day we were lucky to enjoy it.
They have a pretty good range on the menu for brunch that offers from classic eggs to waffles, crepes, French toast, Egg Benedict to sandwiches. All of the above have several choices to choose from and some options are more classic then others.
I had to look over the menu a few times to decide if I was in the mood for sweet or more salty. After my friend made his choice on the Chicken Waffle I opted for the Benny Mac Benedict. When it comes to Chicken Waffle the description is pretty straight forward. This one was served with boneless fried chicken, a side of sriracha cole slaw, BBQ sauce, home fries and seasonal fruit and to top it off (by choice only) why not add some maple syrup.
As for the Benny Mac the description let me enlighten you, imagine replacing the English muffin by Mac n Cheese fritters, add some pulled pork, a jalapeño jelly and top it with your poached egg. I have to say that this is definitely a meal for cheat day, the different tastes individually were what you would expect but the mix of flavors especially with the jalapeño jelly made it quite interesting for the taste buds. Coffee was also very good and my friend enjoyed their fresh orange juice.
Cool spot for breakfast if you’re looking for something different. You can find some new flavors and the portions are pretty generous which is always nice when you’re looking for comfort food and not a gastronomic experience. Give it a try and let me know what you thought!
